ORGANIZING IS WHAT YOU DO BEFORE YOU DO SOMETHING, SO THAT WHEN YOU DO IT, IT IS NOT ALL MIXED UP.“– A.A. MILNE –

WHAT IS ORGANIZATION?

Being ORGANIZED is having things ARRANGED in a systematic way. When we are organized we know there is a place for everything and have everything in its place. Being organized makes it a lot easier to find things and reduces stress when looking for something. Proper organization is helpful in most areas of our lives. When we are organized, life is much easier.

Ask Your Students:

  1. Why is it important to be organized?
  2. Are you organized?
  3. How can you start being more organized?
  4. Why is organization important in our class?

KEEPING YOUR BELONGINGS ORGANIZED.

How many times have you spent hours looking for something because it was not put away in its proper place? This happens to all of us but can easily be avoided by simply organizing our belongings. We can use a closet organizer to put our clothes and shoes away. We can organize our toys in crates and boxes. We can come up with a system to label different categories so we know exactly where everything is. When we take something out, we have to be sure to put it back when we are done with it so we know where it is next time we need it. These simple organization skills can prevent us from losing our belongings and wasting time searching for them.

Ask Your Students:

  1. Are you organized?
  2. How do you organize your belongings?
  3. Why is it important to organize your belongings?
  4. How do you organize your belongings for our class?

ORGANIZING YOUR SCHEDULE.

Sometimes we can get OVERWHELMED with all we have going on. That’s why it’s so important to keep our schedules organized. If we keep a planner or a calendar with all of our events written down, we can visually see what we having going on each day. Keeping our schedule organized helps us know when we are supposed to be somewhere, when school assignments are due and when our martial arts class is. It is very important that we keep our schedules organized and up to date. If we don’t, we might forget to go somewhere or do something we committed to.

Ask Your Students:

  1. Why is it important to organize your schedule?
  2. How do you organize your schedule?
  3. Have you ever forgotten to do something because your schedule wasn’t organized?
  4. How does your family organize its schedule?

“SUCCESSFUL ORGANIZING IS BASED ON THE RECOGNITION THAT PEOPLE GET ORGANIZED BECAUSE THEY, TOO, HAVE A VISION.” – PAUL WELLSTONE –

ORGANIZING LEADS TO SUCCESS.

When we are organized, it is a lot easier to SUCCEED. When we know where our belongings are, know our schedule and value the importance of organization, we are on the path to success. We don’t waste time looking for things, and we don’t double book our schedule or forget we have something planned. When we take the time to stay organized, we save a lot of time in the long run. Organization is a simple way to keep us ON TRACK. It is very important we not only understand the concept of organization but also practice it.

Ask Your Students:

  1. How does being organized help you be successful?
  2. Have you ever been unsuccessful at something because you were disorganized?
  3. What are some ways to make sure you stay organized?
  4. Why is so important to understand organization?

Dear parents and/or guardians…

This month we are learning about organization and why it is such an important skill to develop and use. In our school, we expect students to be organized and ready to go at every class. We want them to understand the concept and the importance of being organized. We expect our students to organize their belongings, their schedules and their homework. Being organized will help our students reach their goals in our class, at school and at home. Organization is very important for our students to learn.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Be a role model. Our kids are always watching. Make sure you have things at home organized so your children will see how helpful organization can be.
  • Keep a family calendar with everybody’s schedules and events on it. Show your kids the calendar and explain how it is useful for your family. Have them put their school events and martial arts classes on the calendar.
  • Talk to your kids about the importance of organization. Give examples of times you weren’t organized and the consequences of that. Explain how you would do things over with more organization.
  • Have your kids get ready for school the night before. Have them pick out an outfit and lay it out for the next morning. Be sure the outfit is complete with shoes, socks and accessories.
